CBD & Hemp

What is CBD?

Both hemp & marijuana are derived from the cannabis plant, which has 3 species: cannabis sativa, cannabis indica, & cannabis ruderalis.

Hemp is a term created to separate the products with lower THC content (less than 0.3%), from the

higher THC content that marijuana contains (around 30% THC).

Although hemp & marijuana are related, hemp by law must contain less than 0.3% THC.

(THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive component in marijuana.)

CBD stands for cannabidiol & is one of the naturally occurring substances extracted from cannabis plants.

CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC.

CBD can be further refined to completely remove the THC.

Delta-8 THC falls somewhere between CBD & marijuana, being more structurally similar to THC.

Delta-8 products are legal in states where neither medical nor recreational marijuana is not legal, like North Carolina, because they contain less than 0.3% THC.

Why CBD?

Popularity, and's all about the Endocannibinoid System !

All of the cells in our body contain many different types of receptors.  When we understand how all of the different receptors work & what they do, we can make medications that target specific receptors in order to exert positive benefits.
Knowing how receptors work also helps us understand how naturally-occurring substances, such as herbals & minerals,
can be used for positive benefits.

The receptors that CBD targets in our bodies are collectively called the Endocannibinoid system (ECS).  Endocannibinoid receptors are found all throughout the body in the brain, immune cells, glands, organs, & connective tissues.  It literally bridges the body & the mind.  The ECS is responsible for regulating processes such as mood, appetite, sleep, memory, & fertility.  It exerts functions related to metabolism, inflammation, motor control, cardiovascular systems, stress, & even nerve function.

Maintaining stability, or homeostasis, is what keeps our health at it's peak.  Many things can interrupt the smooth functioning of
these systems: injury, stress, fatigue, & poor nutrition, to mention a few.

More & more, people are getting tired of being handed a pill that will help with certain symptoms, & then they need another pill to help with side effects of the first pill.  Because we strive to integrate Western medicine with holistic approaches, we believe that holistic solutions can often be the first approach to health issues.  CBD products are a part of bringing holistic health benefits to people.
