Prescription Weight Loss

semaglutide/tirzepatide

It can be difficult to lose weight, especially if it seems like your diet and activity are not helping you drop the pounds you want. Finding the right solution for weight loss can be a bit confusing, but clinical innovations like semaglutide/tirzepatide injections can be just the remedy to your specific concerns. This class of medication has been around since the early 2000's, helping to treat those with diabetes and obesity. Losing weight and keeping it off can lessen the many health risks that come with obesity, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and a shortened life span.

how does it work?

Semaglutide replicates the effects of a hormone that controls how the brain processes appetite and insulin production. This weekly subcutaneous injection is classified as a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA). With these benefits, it aids in the weight management of those with obesity when combined with sufficient lifestyle intervention such as physical activity and healthy eating.

As a GLP-1 RA, semaglutide suppresses appetite and increases insulin production. It also decreases the risk of near-fatal conditions like a stroke, heart attack, and other chronic illnesses. Semaglutide achieves these benefits by modifying the hypothalamus — the control center of the brain that handles the body’s temperature, mood, and blood pressure. By toning down appetite and blood sugar level, a patient utilizing semaglutide injections can have an easier time adjusting to a different and healthier diet instead of cravings for foods that perpetuate and increase the condition of obesity.

It can even slow digestion, as some providers have noticed. This also helps patients maintain a feeling of fullness that helps them not go over their designated calorie intake for weight management.

This non-stimulant medication is ideal for any age & can actually be used for maintenance once your weight loss goal has been reached.  However, when lifestyle changes have become good habits, utilizing medication to maintain a healthy weight shouldn't be needed.
